Based on my young son’s drawings, this series is born as an exploration into a new technique, that of ceramic sculptures, and an analysis into the relationship between butterflies (and their ecosystems) and my view on childhood. This relationship, and its translation into the pieces for the series, highlights how both are full of magic and creativity, whilst at the same time being in imminent danger of destruction and mistreatment given the fragility of their intrinsic nature.
MEDIUM
The pieces in this series are created using different high and low temperature clay, including prai, black stoneware, speckled stoneware, terracota, zumaia, amongst others. Some pieces are glazed while others are left au naturale post kiln.
